Violoncello
Peter's first instrument is the piano which he began learning at the age of six. A year or so later, at the King's School, Worcester, he began learning the 'cello and as a teenager studied music and the organ under assistant Cathedral organists Edgar Day and Harry Bramma. After graduating from Leeds University and deciding to settle in West Yorkshire he joined the orchestra of Bradford University where the repertoire ranged from the early music of Boyce and his contemporaries to moderns like Harrison Birtwhistle. He also played with a number of other orchestras and small ensembles while in Yorkshire. A change of career brought him and his family to Braintree in 1997 where he joined the choir of St Peter's and met some of the other members of what was to become the Blackwater Consort. He is currently the organist at St Peter’s Bocking, Essex.
