The Blackwater Consort

Keith Coleman

Keyboard Instruments

Keith was born and educated in Gwent, and is now in great demand as an accompanist throughout Essex. His planned musical career was thwarted by the 1939-45 war in which he served as a soldier in the U.K., North Africa, Italy and Greece. He trained as a teacher after the war with service in London, Oxon., Glos., and Essex. He pursued piano and organ studies privately and, after retirement as a head teacher, now leads a busy life as church organist and choirmaster at Rivenhall, accompanist, conductor and composer. Keith is the accompanist of Braintree Male Voice Choir, and supports many local musical groups and

dramatic societies in their musical offerings. Joining the Blackwater Consort has presented Keith with a new musical challenge, for this is the first time that he has been called upon to play a spinet!
